How to Show Your Food Order in Korean with K-Bap
Once you have chosen what to eat, the next challenge is making sure the restaurant understands your selection. K-Bap’s order card puts selected menu items and quantities into Korean so you can show them to staff.
It is a communication aid. Displaying the card does not send an order to the kitchen, make a payment, or confirm that a requested change is available.
Select items from your menu scan
Read the scan results alongside the restaurant’s menu. Add the items you want and check the quantity for each one. Keep similarly named options separate in your mind: the full menu name matters when a restaurant offers several versions of a dish.
Open the order view after you have made your selection. This is a good moment to check the list rather than handing over a screen you have not reviewed.
Check the card before showing it
Look for three things:
- The dishes: do the Korean names correspond to the rows you meant to choose?
- The quantities: are you asking for one of each, or more than one of a particular item?
- The price information: does it agree with the menu, and are any options or additions still unclear?
The displayed total is an estimate, not the restaurant’s bill. Confirm anything missing or uncertain with staff. A neat card cannot correct a menu line that was read incorrectly earlier.
Let the person taking your order read it
The Korean card gives staff a readable list, with a separate view for you. Use the enlarged view if the text is difficult to read. Give staff time to check it and point to the original menu when a name needs clarification.
If you have configured ingredients to avoid, review the information shown with the card. Showing a request does not mean the restaurant has agreed to it. Ask staff to confirm what can be changed, including ingredients already present in a sauce or broth.
Finish the conversation, then finish in the app
Before treating the order as settled, check that staff have accepted the items and quantities. Also confirm any substitutions and the final charge. Completing the app’s order flow is separate from the restaurant accepting your order.
For a repeat visit, do not assume an earlier selection proves today’s availability or price. Use the menu in front of you as the final reference.
If you have not scanned a menu yet, start with the menu-reading guide. For choosing a translation tool, see Papago and K-Bap at a first restaurant visit.
